The CRN Test Center Ultimate PC

By John Yacono
June 21, 2004    6:00 PM ET

Once again the CRN Test Center has built an "Ultimate PC" from the best components flowing through the channel. For the first time, this year's system included 7.1 surround sound, a 64-bit processor, a 250-Gigabyte serial ATA drive, a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo, a floppy drive with a built-in memory reader and a case with a temperature readout. Click here to see what components were deemed ultimate.

Test Center Director John Yacono showed off the system at the TechBuilder XChange trade show in May, which was organized by CRN publisher CMP Media.

Each Year, Yacono assembles and demonstrates the most feature-rich systems from the best components flowing through the channel. The main point of the demonstrations is to point solution providers toward key components they can use to differentiate their offerings. Vendors with products compelling enough to participate are given Ultimate PC awards.
