Averatec Ultraportables Are Ultra Chic

With all the options customers have these days, resellers need something new to attract business. Averatec, a Santa Ana, Calif., vendor of portable electronic products, recently released the 4200 series of ultraportable notebooks, which includes all the goodies one might find in similar notebooks, such as Intel Centrino processors. The difference with the Averatec line is the customization the company provides for each unit, right down to the cover.

The 4200 line comes in a rainbow of shell colors from red to blue. Averatec can also emblaze logos, names—anything that doesn't infringe on copyrights—on the notebook cover. If a reseller's customer wanted a red notebook with the company's logo on top for its employees, Averatec can accommodate the request.

CRN Test Center engineers believe the uniqueness of each notebook and sleek compact design make the notebooks an easy sell to the college campus crowd.

The 4265-EH1, which Test Center engineers looked at, includes Intel Centrino Pentium M processors with an 800MHz front-side bus. It runs at 1.6GHz. An Intel 915 Express Chipset supports third-generation graphics and standards. The notebook also includes an 80-Gbyte hard drive, multiformat DVD+/- burner, 512 Mbytes of DDRS-DRAM and integrated wireless that supports 802.11b and 802.11g wireless networking standards.
