Planon System Solutions last week began shipping its DocuPen R700, which allows paper documents to be easily turned into digital files. Documents can be captured by the handheld scanner at 100 or 200 dpi and uploaded to a PC via the included USB cable. Up to 100 pages can be stored in the device's internal flash memory bank, depending on the resolution and amount of text and graphics on the page. The R700 has been improved from previous models with simpler uploading of photos and automatic recharging via the unit's USB cable. Software included with the unit can convert captured text into digital ink.
