PowerPad 300 Tops In Extending Runtime

Electrovaya, Mississauga, Ontario, recently released the PowerPad 300 battery backup solution, which delivers high-energy density in smaller and more lightweight forms than most commercially available battery technologies—almost 10 times the charge of any standard notebook battery, depending on the energy consumed by the application that's running.

The new PowerPad is based on the company's own lithium ion SuperPolymer rechargeable battery technology, which provides a huge surplus in runtime for the true road warrior.

CRN Test Center engineers think the health-care market is one niche that could benefit greatly from the longer battery runtime offered by the PowerPad 300.

For example, doctors and other health-care practitioners who are on long shifts and use tablet technology are usually interrupted by a short window of battery runtime. The idea of running 10 to 15 hours longer without any downtime would be extremely advantageous to these users.

The PowerPad 300 is available in a compact size—12 inches by 8.75 inches by 1 inch—and weighs less than 7 pounds. It can be fully charged overnight and has a maximum capacity of 19 volts and 300 watts.

Obviously, the applications and notebooks used in conjunction with the PowerPad 300 will offer up different results in response to battery runtime. CRN engineers were able to watch more than six hours of DVDs on a single charge—an impressive length of time never seen before in CRN Labs.
