Easy Media Creator 8 has multidisc burning capabilities from a single source and users can select multiple target burners at once during the burning process. Creator 8 also provides an option to simultaneously create disc image files while burning a disc.

The new DVD functions permit users to capture and edit high definition (HD) video files. Users also can customize DVDs by adding Hollywood-style navigable menus with buttons and text, including audio. In addition, users can create DivX HD discs and play them with DivX HD-compliant DVD players on HDTVs.

Double-layer DVDs are supported. Users can transfer DVDs onto double layer DVDs without any degradation in quality. Test Center engineers tested this feature and found that a copy maintained the original&'s production quality.

Roxio went one step further to provide compression on DVDs, allowing users with mobile devices to transfer DVDs onto CDs and memory cards. The compression feature supports DivX and WMV files. Users can make menus with the DivX files. Set-top DVD recorders with DVD+R and DVD-R also are supported.

Creator 8 works with still images and photo slides and burns them into HD or onto DVDs. Roxio added a feature that allows sharing of large images without using e-mail, through a peer-to-peer client.

Creator 8 adds a great new feature for the digital home entertainment market: UPnP-compliant appliances can now access media files from any PC on a home network. With this feature, Creator is now starting to compete with more expensive dedicated devices, allowing integrators to promote digital home integration.

Creator 8&'s many new features for authoring music strongly compete with dedicated digital home units. Users now can add metadata to audio tracks such as titles, artists and genre. Metadata tags also can be added to music captured from LPs, tape and Internet radio.
