Phoenix Targets End-Point Security

Phoenix just announced a new end-point security product, Recover Pro 6, and a new channel program for enterprise and government VARs. The Phoenix Trusted Partner Network is the company&'s first channel program.

Stored in a protected portion of a system&'s hard drive, Recover Pro 6 allows end users to perform partial and complete restorations in just a few minutes without having to bother the IT department. The Recover Pro 6 software is invulnerable to OS attacks, viruses and other nuisance software and will work even if Windows won&'t boot.

Recover Pro is not a clean-slate product. Earlier versions of Recover Pro were sold to system builders, but the program lacked an end-user-friendly GUI, and Phoenix never had a channel program in place.

This latest version of Recover Pro has been tweaked so that end users will have no trouble using the product, and the new channel program will help solution providers maximize their earnings potential.

End users can restore deleted files or previous versions and can even fully restore a hard drive to a pre-infested state. (Users simply have to select a restore point or files to restore, and restorations are performed automatically without needing a network connection or a recovery disc.) The process usually takes less than five minutes.

Recover Pro 6 is typically installed after a system has been fully configured. Of course, a system can be fully set up with an OS, apps and Recover Pro 6, and then the fully imaged hard drive can be duplicated as needed. A solution provider also can set up an FTP site to have end users download and install the product.

Another alternative is to push the software out over a network via an SMS outreach, but the system will then perform an automatic reboot—so this is best done after hours.

Recover Pro 6 supports hardware RAID and backups up to USB drives. The product is designed for Windows XP and Windows 2000, and will run on Pentium III or faster PCs.
