Imprivata Quells Management Burdens

Imprivata looks to eliminate the management burden with the OneSign 2.0 SSO appliance. The OneSign unit solves a multitude of problems associated with SSO-based solutions. Most importantly, the unit leverages XML technology to auto-script the log on process. In other words, to extend SSO to an application, administrators only need to show the OneSign Application Profile Generator the process behind a logon. The application profile generator acts like a wizard, and learns the steps associated with logging into an application. The Generator then creates a scripted XML macro to automate the log on process for authorized users. After applying the application profile generator to a business's applications, multiple passwords and application logon events are replaced with a single, centrally-managed user logon, significantly reducing the internal IT burden while maximizing users' productivity.

Starting at a MSRP of $15,995 for the appliance and 200 user licenses, the OneSign is cost effective for small enterprises. Authorized partners can expect margins in the 30 percent range. Most of the unit's value lies in eliminating the burden of password support from busy help desks, while ensuring application security. That will prove to be a key metric for demonstrating ROI on the appliance. Training is provided by a dedicated partner manager and a technical partner manager, and is available in person or via the Web. Pre- and post-sales support and a dedicated partner Web site are also offered. Solution providers can extend the unit to thousands of users by purchasing additional licenses.

Imprivata looks to partner with security-focused VARS that are able to provide three-to-five day implementations. The single-level channel program provides a dedicated partner manager, participation at industry trade shows, collateral, sales training and aggressive marketing campaigns. Technical support is available Monday through Friday either over the Web or by telephone.

By integrating with existing user security directories such as LDAP and Active Directory, the OneSign appliance further reduces the burden on IT departments by eliminating the duplication of security accounts that normally occurs with other SSO-based solutions. What's more, Imprivata uses agent-based technology to further secure access to the SSO-enabled applications. A small software client is pushed out to each client workstation to enable SSO functionality for any Windows user.

Imprivata ships the OneSign SSO in a secure redundant pair configuration for failover protection. This configuration provides seamless, synchronized database back up and hot failover support. If the primary appliance becomes unavailable, Imprivata OneSign automatically transfers operations to the failover device without impacting users connected to OneSign agents.

Solution providers will find that Imprivata's OneSign 2.0 SSO appliance offers an elegant and affordable solution to businesses struggling with password and security management issues.
