IOMega is a well-known name in removable storage, and the company extends that expertise to DVD/CDR media with the Super DVD Writer. The device is an external, USB 2.0-based multi-format optical drive.

The unit supports multiple DVD formats and is compatible with a broad selection of media. Out of the box, the Super DVD Writer supports DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM and CDR media. Read and write speeds vary depending on the media. DVD+RW and DVD-RW peak at 4x write speeds, and DVD-RAM peaks at 3x write speed.

The unit connects to a PC using USB 2.0, and requires an external power connection. The unit is an ideal companion to a tablet PC or for use where an internal drive just won't do. The drive works with popular CD/DVD authoring packages and can duplicate disks as well as perform backup chores.
