Network Associates took top honors in the debut of the security software category, with a weighted total score of 74. That score placed it a solid two points ahead of Microsoft and three points ahead of Check Point. The company nudged the competition out of the race with a strong showing in product support scores. Network Associates' showing in presales and postsales support, communication and ease of doing business were also key factors in its first-place standing.
