David Thompson, executive vice president and CFO, and Alberto Yepez, board member and president of Entrust New Ventures, are acting as interim co-CEOs while the company searches for a permanent replacement.
Ryan headed Entrust, a public-key infrastructure (PKI) vendor based here, since the company was founded in 1996. In a prepared statement, he said he was ready for a new challenge but offered no other reason for his resignation.
Ryan guided Entrust through key acquisitions, including the merger last year with enCommerce, which set the stage for the company's evolution, said Entrust Chairman James Thomson. Entrust has solid fundamentals and strong growth potential, he said.
"The board and John agreed that this was an opportune time for the company to seek new leadership with the specific skills needed to take Entrust to the next level," Thomson said.
