War Games (1983)
In this classic hacker flick, a young, underachieving teen, played by Matthew Broderick, accidentally finds a backdoor into a top secret U.S. military network. Although he only thinks he's playing a high-end computer game, he ends up starting a nuclear war with Russia instead.

This film is erroneous at many levels. Okay, just suspend your belief for a minute that someone could hack into a top secret military computer network and start World War III. For one, passwords cannot be broken incrementally -- you either get them right all at onceor you don't.

Meanwhile, when Broderick is sending and receiving text from his computer, the modem lights don't flash. On his 300-1200 baud modem, you'd be able to see the flashes.
