Spam Watch:

As economy woes worsen, much of the spam seen this week is centered in making money. Subject lines have a particular sense of urgency: "Tired of struggling?" or "Christmas bonus HERE" are among some of them. Offenders are the usual viral marketers like cash-blaster.com and pageowners.com. Spam relay attempts through SMTP were logged as coming from pools.arcor-ip.net.

Threat Watch:

Log files show scans of port 22 (SSH) coming from aspadmin.net. Lots of activity is also seen against Telnet port 23. Scans came from IP addresses originating from Ecuador, Peru and Italy. Relentless attempts to gain access to SQL server were logged as coming from the same untraceable IP address of 207.150.251.88. There are also logged attempts against Terminal Server.
