Juniper To OEM Sophos Anti-Spam For Branch Office Apps

Juniper Networks and Sophos confirmed this week that Juniper will OEM Sophos anti-spam technology as part of its SRX Series Services Gateways, SSG Series Secure Services Gateways and J Series Services Routers. The move expands what Juniper can offer for network security in branch office deployments.

"Sophos has built a solid reputation for its dependable and high-performance enterprise security software solutions," said Alex Gray, vice president and general manager, Branch Solutions at Juniper Networks, in a statement. "Sophos anti-spam intelligence will provide our distributed enterprise customers with the highest level of protection and ease of doing business."

Sophos anti-spam will come integrated with the Juniper products and will be offered through Juniper channel partners. Sophos channel partners can also buy the anti-spam technology as a standalone, through Sophos' existing subscription-based licenses, or as part of a security bundle. Juniper gear with integrated Sophos antispam will also receive updates through Sophos eXtensible List (SXL), the tool Sophos uses for real-time intelligence updates from SophosLabs, its security research and analytics arm.

Juniper has been focused this year on building out the capabilities of its network security products, especially SRX Services Gateways. Juniper channel chief Frank Vitagliano told Channelweb.com last month that Juniper expects the SRX Services Gateways to be one of Juniper's biggest growth products in the channel next year.
