Caymas Unveils Identity-Driven Access Gateway

Security vendor Caymas Systems Monday unveiled a new identity-driven access gateway to provide a single source for SSL VPN-based remote access, business partner extranets, and wire-speed internal access control for SMBs.

The tool, dubbed the Caymas 220, is designed to open up the world of identity-driven access to SMBs that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it. Caymas, Petaluma, Calif., plans to demonstrate the device at next week's RSA Conference in San Francisco.

Rich Douros, director of channel sales at Caymus, said the tool is easy to use and affordable, making it an ideal device for solution providers to sell. "The whole idea behind this is to bring superior technology to businesses that haven't been able to afford it in the past," Douros said. "For solution providers, this is a great way to break into the [SMB] market."

Specifically, the Caymas 220 supports up to 100 concurrent users and delivers 100-Mbps throughput. The device boasts behavior-monitoring capabilities, as well as administrator controls to ease compliance with privacy and security mandates.

The tool joins the currently shipping Caymas 525 and Caymas 318 gateways as tools that feature the vendor's patent-pending identity tagging architecture to tie all access control and security decisions to user identities. All of the Caymas gateways perform network-level admission, including integrated end-point integrity checking and application-level access control.
