VentureTech allowed seven solution providers to showcase their own products and services to more than 300 other VTN members. NetStandard maintains its own secure 12,000-square-foot data center in Kansas City and provides a Web-based remote console that VARs can use to backup their customers' data.

Heartland Technologies Solutions

E-Newsletters

"We do 140 newsletters now for other resellers. What's new now is some people write an original article for their newsletter and we've asked them to submit it to our database. Now it's viral and it's being used by other resellers. It makes them feel good about what they're doing," said Jane Cage, COO of Heartland Technologies Solutions, Joplin, Mo., shown in the middle.

IUG Business Solutions

POS applications for specialty foods, restaurants, luxury goods

"This is our first time at VTN. We've had good success handling retail. We're not just looking to sell the solutions, but we're also looking for the partnership opportunities that [VTN] provides," said Edwad Ip, president and CEO of IUG Business Solutions, right. On the left is Craig Marr, director of business development at the New York-based solution provider.

Xilocore

Data protection services

"We're up to about 40 [reseller] customers. We're growing rapidly. We can add up to two terabytes into a vault. Data protection and business continuity are on everybody's minds, especially being here [in New Orleans]. We're a lot more than online backup, we're data protection, virtual restoration and recovery of servers to protect the business if a building burned down. It's a complete end-to-end solution," said Ted Warner, CEO of Connecting Point of Greeley, Colo., and a partner in Xilocore. Warner, right, explains Xilocore to Ken Wernver of Microman, another VentureTech member.

Highly Reliable Systems

RAIDFrame backup systems

"We've had RAID products out for three or four years, but our newsest thing is RAIDFrame which comes in one bay or five bays," said Darren McBride, president of Sierra Computers and Training, Reno, Nev., who launched Highly Reliable Systems as a separate business. McBride, pictured at right, calls the product the "world's largest 3 terabyte single cartridge." Also pictured is Kathy Raye Freemonth, vice president of sales and marketing for Highly Reliable Systems.

Layered Technologies

Hosting, business continuity services

John Pozadzides, vice president and CMO of Layered Technologies, Plano, Tex., left, explains his company's offerings to VTN members. Pozadzides said 70 percent of the VARs to stop by the company's booth are interested in its services. "We provide dedicated hosting, grid hosting, data center, power, physical hardware. We're working with VARs who want to convert a one-time hardware sale into an ongoing revenue stream," Pozadzides said.

DoubleCheck E-mail Manager

"We've got a few hundred resellers now. We've actually seen a lot of growth the last two quarters for our e-mail filter and anti-virus solution. Our differentiator from MX Logix or Barracuda is that they only have one platform, appliance or hosted. We have both to solve any need," said Doug Elliott, consultant with NMGI, Hutchinson, Kans., at right.
