VAR500 solution providers this week delivered software solutions to the Pentagon, reported revenue increases, signed government contracts, and increased job rolls.

ACS Picks Up Head Count

Affiliated Computer Services will hire 300 additional employees for its Anderson, Ind., call center operation, according to its parent company, Xerox. The new jobs will bring the number of ACS employees in Anderson to nearly 1,000 as part of a nationwide expansion in which ACS is adding at least 2,000 jobs. The new jobs will supply technical support and customer service calls to a leading wireless provider.

Fiserv's Deposit Program Popular With Pentagon

Fiserv, a provider of financial services technology solutions, has seen large-scale acceptance of its "Deposit Anywhere" product at the Pentagon Federal Credit Union. PenFed's adoption of Consumer Source Capture lets members make deposits anytime from their homes.

PenFed implemented Consumer Source Capture from Fiserv in June. Three weeks after launch, PenFed saw more weekly deposits from "Deposit Anywhere" than from its Web-based mail deposit service that had been in place for seven years. The value of the deposits increased as well and after six weeks was almost double the number of mailed deposits.

Accenture Gets Navy Deal

The http://newsroom.accenture.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=5088">U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) awarded Accenture a five-year, $6.3 million contract to provide engineering services covering hardware and software maintenance in support of the Navy’s efforts to modernize its ships with mission-critical systems.

’These services are designed to enable SPAWAR to more effectively plan, manage and execute the installation of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) equipment aboard U.S. Navy ships and shore facilities,’ said Vince Vlasho, Accenture senior executive and U.S. Navy account lead.

CDW Appoints New Small Biz Head

Jill Billhorn has joined CDW as vice president, small business. Billhorn is responsible for driving revenue, leading the small business sales team, and ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty in CDW's small business segment. She reports to Christina V. Rother, CDW's senior vice president of sales.

Cerner Sites Strong Sales

Cerner experienced strong bookings, revenue, earnings and cash flow in the third quarter of 2010. New business bookings revenue, which reflects the value of executed contracts for software, hardware and professional services and managed services, was $495.7 million in the third quarter of 2010, up 17 percent compared with $424.3 million in the third quarter of 2009. Revenue for the third quarter of 2010 rose 13 percent to $462.7 million compared with $409.4 million in the year-ago quarter.
