Intelligent Decisions' Gaming Technology Aids Army Training

Early in 2012, the Army will roll out a virtual training system for soldiers that uses gaming technology developed by Intelligent Decisions. The $57-million Dismounted Soldier Training System provides a high-fidelity, portable simulation of battlefield conditions. Soldiers can perform complex motion maneuvers within the system and are issued realistic weapons equipped with joysticks. Each soldier moves within an area measuring at least 10 foot. x 10 foot., and feedback sensors are located within the area.

Edge, Go2 Honored By Commerce Group

For the second consecutive year, Edge Solutions has been selected for the 2011 Best of Alpharetta Award in the Information Technology Solutions Provider category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA). Nationwide, only 1.4 percent of 2011 Award recipients qualified as Two-Time Award Winners.

In addition, another Fast Growth IT solution provider, Go2 Communications, has been selected for the ’2011 Best of Woburn Award’ in the Data Communication Services category by the USCA. The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. MicroTech's Top Exec Rings Closing Bell

MicroTech CEO Tony Jimenez presided over the NASDAQ closing bell ceremony earlier in December in recognition of the IT solutions provider's repeat performance as a Deloitte Technology Fast 500 fast-growth winner. Along with Tony was MicroTech senior management; Adrienne Ward, vice president of business development' Gail Nichols, Sr. Director of UCC Sales, and Jeff Tiede, Director of Sales.

Emergent's New Cloud Chief

Emergent's Quint Van Deman, director of Open Source, will now head the new Cloud Solutions practice within Emergent Consulting. Van Deman will be responsible for designing open-source and cloud based solutions for customers, managing the implementation of those solutions by Emergent consultants, and being an advocate for open-source and cloud computing in the enterprise. He is a Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), Engineer (RHCE), Data Center Specialist (RHCDS), and the Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year for 2011.

immixGroup Hosts Briefing On Gov't Spending For Health Services

immixGroup's Market Intelligence organization hosted a briefing this month detailing the Department of Health and Human Services proposed $7 billion budget. John Teeter, acting CIO of the Department of Health and Human Services, was the featured speaker at the briefing, which emphasized major funding opportunities for software and hardware manufacturers, resellers, and solution providers. The discussion included how current IT strategy implementations are shaping major HHS programs and initiatives. "Despite an uncertain budget climate, we expect HHS’s IT budget to increase to about $7 billion in FY12," said Tim Larkins, market intelligence consultant for immixGroup. "We believe the agency will need support in areas such as data sharing, reporting, and IT security. COTS product vendors will find many short-term opportunities to provide solutions that can deliver results and cost savings for HHS customers."
