Amazon Kindle Fire HD
Amazon shook up the tablet market big time this month, introducing a faster, brighter and overall more sophisticated lineup of Kindle devices. But, the one that really made a splash was Amazon's new Kindle Fire HD, an 8.9-inch tablet that touts a 1,920-x-1,200 display, support for 4G LTE networks and an ultrathin frame that combine to make it a pretty serious contender to Apple's new iPad.
The new Kindle Fire HD also features dual stereo speakers and is said by Amazon to be the first tablet out of the gate to feature Dolby Digital Plus audio. It also comes with two antennas, a feature that Amazon said lets the Kindle Fire HD's Wi-Fi run nearly 41 percent faster than the iPad's. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD will be available in a 16-GB version for $299 and 32 GB with 4G LTE version for $499.
