Robert Downey Jr., HTC
Robert Downey Jr. became the face of smartphone company HTC when he agreed to a two-year contract to help bolster the company's advertising campaign. In August, Downey appeared in an HTC ad aligned with the company's mantra, "Here's to change." Downey, according to an August HTC press release, has "injected his own style" into the campaign to help "shape its creative direction, putting change at the core of HTC's brand." The original HTC One with its sleek aluminum design, BoomSound speakers and Android user interface saw some popularity in the U.S., but continued Apple and Samsung competition ultimately drove the company to its first-ever quarterly loss in October.
