Obamacare Website Stumbles Twice On Deadline Day
This week was the deadline for people to sign up for health insurance through Healthcare.gov. But the website went down twice on Monday, the last day of open enrollment, when software bugs caused hours of downtime. The site was scheduled for regular maintenance between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, but software bugs kept it down for several more hours. Later in the day the site stopped creating accounts and providing access to enrollment tools because of high user traffic, although the site's data services hub still worked. Healthcare.gov has been plagued with problems since its Oct. 1 launch. While the site's operations have been improving, an analysis by Compuware APM concluded that its performance still isn't meeting benchmarks for health insurance industry applications.
