Advanced Micro Devices shook up its executive team as part of the company's restructuring efforts, naming Lisa Su as the company's new COO. The restructuring is an effort by the company to focus more aggressively on what it determined to be "high-growth" areas in the chip market, such as embedded devices. AMD was hit hard by the declining PC market and has been working to change its image and step away from almost complete reliance on PC sales.
Su previously served as AMD general manager for global business units and will now be in charge of the company's new Enterprise, Embedded and Semi-Custom Business Group. She starts her new role July 1.
