Cisco's Unsolved Network Virtualization Problem

Let's talk about the network virtualization. So what they want to do is say, 'Let's basically virtualize the network and make it real easy to manage your IP addresses and tie your private [data] center IP addresses to your virtual private cloud and connect all these things.'

That is all great, but the reality is they have no understanding of what they are virtualizing and what is underneath. So they could be virtualizing a 300-baud phone pipe. They have no visibility to what it is. This idea that the whole world is virtualized and infrastructure doesn't matter is a gap in the [Cisco] thinking.
