HP CTO Martin Fink: 12 Reasons Cisco's Intercloud Is A Bad Bet

Cisco 'Cloud Washing'

Cisco is essentially taking old-style IT and 'cloud washing' that with virtualization and VMware. Virtualization is not cloud. So that is the big thing. When I say they are 'cloud washing' this, they basically supply virtual machines and they provide a vSwitch to try to virtualize the networking. Then they provide a manager to look at all of your virtual machines. That is sort of it. The true cloud is about building that next generation of apps with elastic scale and a dev/ops model. It is not just I am going to spin out virtual machines at will and on demand.
