5 Cool Cloud Products Just Released By Western Digital

WD My Cloud

Western Digital is making big strides in both consumer and professional cloud adoption with its new My Cloud network attached storage (NAS) solutions.

The company has released four new products in addition to updating its easy-to-use app. These products address the growing demand for content storage, management, protection and streaming among professionals, consumers and small businesses.

WD has created its new Linux-based My Cloud Business series aimed at small businesses, and launched two new additions to its My Cloud Expert series targeting photographers, videographers, graphic designers and other creative professionals. The app from WD is for all users, including consumers that want to back up their mobile devices to their own personal cloud or other supported clouds.

EX2100

As part of the My Cloud Expert Series, the EX2100 targets creative professionals that handle large file sizes and 4K video footage. The NAS server runs on a dual-core Marvell ARMADA 385 processor for high-speed media streaming. Users can keep files safe and secure from anywhere using the EX2100 as it can get up to 12 TB of storage. Users can share their music, videos, photos and more all from their mobile devices, gaming consoles and smart TVs, and back it up to their personal cloud device. WD is making an effort to make personal cloud storage devices more affordable, and this one starts at $249.99.

EX4100

The new EX4100 from WD is the most advanced product in the My Cloud Expert Series, delivering up to 24 TB of storage. Running on a dual-core Marvell ARMADA 388 processor, users can enjoy the fastest read/write speeds of its class. They can also back up their media files and more to their own personal cloud from anywhere, or to public clouds such as Dropbox, ElephantDrive and Amazon S3. My Cloud Expert Series products also can serve as a digital entertainment hub, seamlessly streaming movies and music to any supported multimedia device such as gaming consoles, smart TVs and more. The EX4100 starts at $399.99.

DL2100

As part of the new WD My Cloud Business Series line, which are comprised of two Linux-based NAS servers aimed at small businesses, the DL2100 is powered by the Atom dual-core C2350 processor and allows small businesses to centralize and protect their data in the workplace. It provides employees with secure access to critical data anywhere, offering AES 256-bit volume encryption and multiple RAID options. This particular unit provides up to 12 TB of data, and starts at $349.99.

DL4100

The more advanced half of the Business series, the DL4100, offers up to 24 TB of data, runs on the latest Intel Atom processor with 2 GB of RAM. The NAS server comes business-ready with multiple integrated third-party apps, in addition to homemade WD developed apps. The memory of the DL4100 is expandable up to 6 GB, and comes with the same encryption and security offerings of the DL2100. This product starts at $529.99.

My Cloud App

WD just released a new update to its award-winning, password-protected My Cloud app. The mobile app allows users to view photos, watch videos, stream music and access documents from their personal cloud, cloud services and My Passport Wireless. This user-friendly app allows users to easily free up space on their mobile devices with direct photo and video uploads, and transfer files between all cloud options. In addition to working with multiple WD personal cloud storage products, the My Cloud App works with cloud services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and more. The WD My Cloud app is compatible with both iOS and Android.
