Toshiba's New Satellite Pro Notebooks

Toshiba launched a new line of Satellite Pro notebook computers for the business market using both Intel Core 2 Duo and AMD dual core processors. The line starts with a 13.3 inch model and expands to include 14.1-inch, 15.4 inch and 17-inch models that can be sold in nine standard configurations.

"It's a great basic essential platform for those businesses that know they need a notebook for a competitive advantage," said Craig Marking, senior product marketing manager for Toshiba, Irvine, Calif. Coming in four sizes, Toshiba now has business notebooks for 97 percent of the market, Marking said.

Satellite Pro L300 and L300D

Toshiba is bringing two 15.4-inch notebooks to the market with the Satellite Pro L300 and L300D. The L300 features Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the L300D is configured with AMD dual-core processors.

It is the only product in the lineup to feature AMD's processors. "The 15.4 is really targeted to be our most aggressively priced and most valued line. We refer to it as our mainstream platform within the family," said Marking.

Both ship with either Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Home Basic along with integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless and a built-in webcam with a microphone. These models start at $699.

Satellite Pro M300

Toshiba's Satellite Pro M300 is the company's 14.1-inch professional notebook, designed for mobile professionals on-the-go. The M300 has Intel Core 2 duo processors, integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless and a 1.3 megapixel web cam.

The M300 starts at $999.

Satellite Pro U400

The Satellite Pro U400 takes mobility up a notch with a 13.3-inch widescreen display, Bluetooth v 2.1, Intel 802.11 a/b/g wireless and a 1.3 megapixel web cam with microphone, its designed for professionals who are looking for a light yet fully-functional notebook. For additional security, it has a fingerprint reader and 3D accelerometer hard drive protection.

The U400 starts at $1,049.

Satellite Pro L350

The largest of Toshiba's new Satellite Pro offerings, the L350 has a 17-inch widescreen and a full-size keyboard with a 10-key number pad.

With a 160 GB hard drive, 801.11a/g/n wireless and a built-in web cam, Toshiba is positioning the L350 as a desktop replacement. "With the Toshiba name and Toshiba quality, a happy customer continues to be a customer and that's important to our reseller customers," said Craig Marking, senior product marketing manager.

The L350 starts at $1,099.
