Lenovo Refreshes Thin And Light Line

Here it is, the new Lenovo G550 laptop, 15.6 inches wide and equipped with a HD LED screen. The computer manufacturer wasn't messing around when it built the machine, with optional hardware that really beefs it up. Built with an Intel Centrino 2 processor, customers can bulk it up by installing an optional Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Is memory your thing? The G550 can be equipped with up to 4 GB of DDR 3 memory and 320 GB of storage. The notebook even has something not typically found in 15-inch laptops: a full-sized keyboard with a numeric keypad. And all of that is packed into a notebook that weighs less than 5 pounds.

The G550 is impressive in its own right, but Lenovo wasn't content with its somewhat traditional appearance. That's why the company produced a second version of the notebook, with design in mind.

This is the same Lenovo G550 laptop, except it's been gussied up, like it was going to the prom. Since it's the same machine, the specs and options are the same. The difference, though, is that Lenovo has put a lot of thought into the appearance of the G550 laptop. And that's just one example of the computer manufacturer's push into the thin and light consumer category. While specs from machine to machine and brand to brand are more or less the same, Lenovo hopes that the thought put into the design can act as a differentiator for the company. Check out the rest of Lenovo's revamped line.

Lenovo is looking to resize the netbook market with the IdeaPad S12, expanding the form factor from 10.1 inches in most netbooks to 12.1 inches with Lenovo's latest offering. The bigger form factor is designed for making viewing media and surfing the Web on this ultraportable machine more comfortable and easier on the eyes. The S12 is powered by an Intel Atom N270 processor and the option for an Nvidia Ion platform that allows users to take advantage of an HDMI port to achieve 1080p HD resolution on bigger screens. Plus, the 12.1-inch netbook eschews smaller keyboards. The S12 throws its size around, delivering a full-sized keyboard.

Lenovo designed the IdeaPadU350, 13.3-inch notebook to look cool. The latest iteration of the IdeaPad tips the scales at just 3.5 pounds and is about 1 inch thick. Not only is the IdeaPad U350 fashion-forward, it's also forward-looking on the inside. Lenovo built the notebook using Intel's ultra-low-voltage processor (ULVP) technology. But being thin and light is only half the battle these days. The U350 delivers a screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, allowing customers to get the most out of the media they download. And that media will have to be downloaded -- the IdeaPad U350 isn't equipped with an optical drive.

Thin, light and design-forward doesn't have to be confined just to notebooks and netbooks. The Lenovo C300 All-in-One Desktop is light, and designed to be striking. It's also designed on internal hardware that is more common to a netbook than it is to a desktop. The 20-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio screen is powered on the inside by an Intel Atom 230 processor and is only 2.2 inches thick. The All-In-One sports built-in wireless capabilities to reduce the number of cables and clutter surrounding it. While this desktop won't run some of the more intense games on the market, it is made for viewing media, surfing the Web and interacting with friends on social networks.
