Microsoft this week debuted Zune HD, a new, high-definition version of its Zune media player that, when it starts shipping this fall, will take its place among the other devices and features in Microsoft's Zune family (left).
The announcement came after several weeks of leaked photos and speculation that a new Zune would see a summer release, but it's worth noting that Zune HD arrives a full two weeks before Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference -- right in the eye of a blogosphere storm over what Apple's going to do to iPod, iPhone and all the other tools in its arsenal.
