The x86 Atom processors drew less power than conventional notebook chips but still delivered solid performance, which made them ideal for netbooks. Now Intel is eying the tablet market with Atom's new Oak Trail architecture, which competes with ARM-based chips like Nvidia's Tegra and Qualcomm's SnapDragon.
