Cisco Cius

Category: Networking

Cisco launched Cius, its Android-based tablet and unified communications endpoint, at the end of July, more than a year after first unveiling the device. It's undoubtedly a gamble for Cisco, but the company has been consistent in positioning Cius as a true business-tablet: not just a mobile computing device, but a true unified communications endpoint that extends a business' infrastructure out to the mobile edge and does so more securely and more flexibly than they'd get with, say, an iPad. It's an investment, undoubtedly -- the docking base along costs $400 -- but if Cius performs everything Cisco says it can, from VDI to mobile security and high definition videoconferencing, it could be a winner for the networking titan.
