Gadgets Galore

The mobility extravaganza that is Mobile World Congress is off to a strong start in 2017. As the conference kicks off in Barcelona, we've already seen a string of big announcements of new smartphones, tablets and wearables -- with Samsung, HP, LG, Lenovo and BlackBerry among the vendors that are showcasing their latest gadgets at MWC 2017. And so in the following slides, we've rounded up details and photos for 20 of the hottest new products on display at the show.

LG G6

At MWC 2017, LG will be showcasing its flagship phone for the year, the LG G6. The 5.7-inch smartphone features a minimal bezel around the display, as well a high-end metal and glass body and waterproofing. The display is QHD+ (2,880 x 1,440) IPS, and the device includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB of RAM. LG has also announced that the G6 will be the first smartphone outside of Google's Pixel and Pixel XL to come with the voice-interactive Google Assistant. LG hasn't disclosed pricing or availability for the G6.

Huawei P10 And P10 Plus

Huawei is debuting its flagship smartphone, the P10, along with the larger-screened P10 Plus. The 5.1-inch P10 and 5.5-inch P10 Plus both come with dual rear cameras (developed with camera maker Leica), of 12 megapixels and 20 megapixels; Huawei's Kirin 960 processor; and large batteries (3,200mAh and 3,750mAh, respectively). The P10 features a 1080p display and 4GB of RAM, while the P10 Plus includes a WQHD display and 6GB of RAM. North American pricing and availability for the phones has not been disclosed.

Huawei Watch 2

The followup to the Huawei Watch (which came out in 2015), the Huawei Watch 2 will run Android Wear 2.0 and includes a 1.2-inch display (390 x 390 resolution). It will also include the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and have a 420mAh battery. The Huawei Watch 2 comes in "sport" and "classic" styles, but the company has yet to release pricing and availability details.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium

Sony is showcasing at MWC 2017 its newest flagship smartphone, the 5.5-inch Xperia XZ Premium, boasting a super-sharp 4K display. It's also notable for its use of the much-anticipated new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (rumors suggest few other phones, save for the Samsung Galaxy S8, may be able to get the chip). Other features for the Xperia XZ Premium includes a 19-megapixel camera, a 3230mAh battery and 4GB of RAM. Sony said the device will be available in the late spring, but the company hasn't disclosed pricing.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

Samsung is showing off the next generation of the Galaxy Tab S series during MWC 2017, and one change is that the Android tablet only comes in a 9.7-inch size, rather than in the 9.7-inch and 8-inch sizes of the Tab S2. The tablet retains the resolution (2,048 x 1,536) of the Tab S2 for its Super AMOLED display, but adds an upgraded S Pen. The Tab S3 also gets a 13-megapixel rear camera, quad-stereo speakers, 4GB of RAM, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and Android 7.0 Nougat. Samsung has yet to disclose pricing and availability.

Samsung Galaxy Book

Also being showcased by Samsung this week is the newly announced Galaxy Book, a Windows 10 tablet that appears to be the successor to the Galaxy TabPro S. The Galaxy Book comes in 10.6-inch and 12-inch variations, and the tablet attaches to an improved keyboard (it's "larger and more tactile," Samsung says). The 12-inch version features the seventh-gen Intel Core i5 processor and Super AMOLED FHD display, while the 10.6-inch model goes with seventh-gen Intel Core m3 and a TFT FHD display.

HP Pro x2 612 G2

Hewlett-Packard Inc. announced at MWC 2017 an overhauled, second-generation version of the HP Pro x2. The 2-in-1 detachable tablet has a 12-inch 2K display and connects to an included keyboard cover. The tablet also features up to a seventh-gen Intel Core i7 processor, up to 11 hours of battery life, USB-C connectivity and a built-in smart card reader. The HP Pro x2 612 G2 is available now for a starting price of $979.

BlackBerry KeyOne

While BlackBerry is getting away from manufacturing smartphones, the BlackBerry brand lives on, and MWC marks the unveiling of the first BlackBerry smartphone made by China-based TCL. The BlackBerry KeyOne runs Android but attempts to channel the classic BlackBerry by including a physical keyboard. That means a display that's on the small side at 4.5 inches. The KeyOne comes with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 processor, a large battery (3,505mAh), a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and 3GB of RAM. The BlackBerry KeyOne is priced at $549 and will go on sale as early as April.

Nokia 3310

HMD Global, which owns the Nokia brand, is using MWC 2017 to revive the Nokia 3310, an early smash-hit mobile phone. The new version of the Nokia 3310, like the original, will be a basic mobile phone with physical buttons and a tiny 2.4-inch screen (no touchscreen on this phone). A high point is the 22 hours of talk time that's promised for the phone. The 3310's display has 240 x 320 resolution, and the phone comes with a 2-megapixel camera. The Nokia 3310 will cost just €49, or about $52, and is slated for release in the second quarter of the year.

Nokia 5

HMD Global is also showing off other new Android smartphones at MWC 2017, including the Nokia 5. The smartphone has a 5.2-inch display (720p resolution), an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera. The phone is planned for release in the spring, with the Nokia 5 priced at €189 ($200).

Moto G5 and G5 Plus

Lenovo will be showcasing the newly debuted 5-inch Moto G5 and 5.2-inch Moto G5 Plus during MWC 2017. The Moto G5 includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 13-megapixel camera and 2800 mAh battery. The Moto G5 Plus goes with a Snapdragon 625 processor, 12-megapixel camera and has a slightly larger 3000 mAh battery. Both phones feature an FHD (1,920 x 1,080) display. Lenovo hasn't disclosed North American pricing and availability for the Moto G5 but said the Moto G5 Plus would be available in April for $229.

Lenovo Yoga 720

The successor to the Yoga 710, the Yoga 720 comes in 13-inch, and 15-inch versions, both of which come with seventh-gen Intel Core i processors and an available UHD IPS display. The 13-inch version is just 0.56 of an inch thick with two USB-C ports, while the 15-inch version has available NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics and one USB-C port. And of course, both models feature the signature 360-degree Yoga hinge and touch screen display. The Yoga 720 models are available in April, with the 13-inch model priced at $859.99 and the 15-inch model priced at $1,099.99.

Lenovo Flex 5

Coming in between the two sizes of the Yoga 720, the Lenovo Flex 5 features a 14-inch FHD display and 360-degree hinge. The laptop also includes seventh-gen Intel Core i processors, optional NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics and up to 512GB of PCIe SSD storage. The Lenovo Flex 5 will be available in May for $799.99.

Lenovo Tab 4 Series

At MWC 2017 Lenovo debuted four tablets in the new Tab 4 series, aimed at kids and families. The Tab 4 8 and Tab 4 8 Plus feature 8-inch IPS displays, while the Tab 4 10 and Tab 4 10 Plus feature 10-inch IPS displays. The "Plus" models feature higher-res displays (1,920 x 1,200), faster processors (Qualcomm Snapdragon 625) and better cameras (8-megapixel rear) than the base models. The Lenovo Tab 4 series models are available in May, priced at $109 for the Tab 4 8; $199 for the Tab 4 8 Plus; $149 for the Tab 4 10; and $249 for the Tab 4 10 Plus.

Lenovo Miix 320

Lenovo will be showing off its latest addition to the Miix lineup, a Windows 10 detachable with a 10.1-inch FHD display and a weight of only 2.24 pounds. The tablet comes with a full keyboard and sports up to hours of battery life, and also features the option to connect over LTE. The Miix 320 will be available in April for $199.99.

ZTE Gigabit Phone

One of the big announcements at MWC 2017 is actually for a device that's not quite ready for prime time. The ZTE Gigabit Phone is a prototype meant to demonstrate the fastest-yet download speeds ever seen on a mobile device – up to 1Gbps. "In the future, with download speeds up to 1Gbps as a standard and ZTE's technology strength in 5G systems and networks, the mobile experience on smart devices will be enhanced to an unimaginable level," ZTE said in a news release.

SAP Cloud Platform SDK for iOS

Last year, SAP and Apple announced they were teaming up to create a new software development kit for easier development of enterprise iOS apps. SAP is taking the wraps off the SDK at Mobile World Congress, in advance of the SDK's delivery on March 30. SAP said the SDK will leverage the SAP Cloud Platform and will have Apple’s programming language, Swift, built in. Features available for enterprise apps developed using the SDK will include single sign-on and offline data synchronization, SAP said.

Ruckus Service Provider Cloud

At Mobile World Congress, Ruckus Wireless is unveiling its newest networking platform, which the company says has been built entirely with service providers in mind. The Ruckus Service Provider Cloud -- a managed service offering -- packages enterprise Wi-Fi (via Ruckus access points) with support for LTE service and wired networking. The aim, Ruckus says, is to simplify the process of configuring and monitoring enterprise networks, whether wireless or wired.
