EMC: Automated Management
EMC unveiled the beta of its Ionix Unified Information Manager 2.0, a new version of the application for unifying network management and then turning into a service the management of network, compute and storage layers. Ionix UIM 2.0 is targeted at helping customers to more easily make the transition from physical to virtual to private cloud infrastructures by unifying and automating the management of Vblock Infrastructure Packages, which combine Cisco, EMC and VMware technologies. EMC said that Ionix UIM 2.0 automates over 60 discrete operations that would normally be performed through disparate management tools.
