SERVERS -- GENERAL-PURPOSE
HPE PROLIANT DL380, GEN9
Aimed at more easily connecting on-premise data centers to the cloud, Hewlett Packard Enterprise made big upgrades to its popular ProLiant DL380 as part of the server's ninth-generation release. Those include new capabilities around management and security, as well as in performance, with the integration of Intel's Xeon E5-2600 v4. "It's basically a workhorse," said Dan Molina, chief technology officer of Nth Generation Computing, San Diego. "It can truly accelerate certain workloads like databases. … And it has 3 terabytes of memory in a single server -- that's amazing. That's ideal for virtualized environments and scale-out architectures."
