At this year's CES show, attendees saw the future of homes – complete with automated, controllable smart products. The smart home was the focus of CES, with smart home assistants, connected furniture – like washing machines and ovens – and voice command technology coming together on one show floor.

Here are the 20 hottest smart home products that CRN saw at CES this year.

RemoBell

Among the smart home products at CES is RemoBell, a smart doorbell that allows users to answer their door – even if they're not home. The doorbell comes with a built-in motion sensor that detects movement and streams HD live video to users' phones. The $149 RemoBell, now on the market, not only alerts users if someone's at their door via a complementary app, but also features two-way audio so they can answer their door.

Schlage's Sense Smart Lock

Schlage's smart lock, Sense, pairs with smartphones via Bluetooth so that users can unlock their door using their phone instead of having to search for their keys. Using Sense, consumers can also share access to their valuables with trusted family and friends so they can grant someone else access into their home if need be. Schlage's $150 Sense, currently on the market, just became compatible with Google Assistant, so it can be integrated into and unlocked with existing home automation systems.

Somfy Connected Thermostat

French company Somfy lifted the curtain on its new connected thermostat during CES Unveiled. Like many other smart products, the connected thermostat learns the behavior of homeowners – but the product also uses geolocation tracking to enhance these features. For instance, if a homeowner likes the house to be set at 60 degrees when he gets home, the thermostat is able to track when he is approaching the house and automatically customize the temperature. The connected thermostat, available is both wired and wireless versions, has launched in Europe but not in the U.S. yet.

Whirlpool Smart Oven

Whirlpool's smart oven is nothing new – the oven itself was already launched – but at CES, this smart appliance now works with Alexa and food recipes app Yummly to help automate the process of cooking.

The IoT oven now works with Yummly, an app that lets users take photos of the food in their fridge and recommends recipes based on what they have, create shopping lists, or deliver food. The new integration of Yummly allows the smart oven to automatically operate based on what the app suggests in its recipes – so the app sends preheating and cooking instructions to the oven. And on top of all of that, users can use voice commands to control the oven as well.

Kohler Verdera Smart Mirror

Kohler's Verdera voice lighted mirror is the first mirror on the market that has Alexa embedded into it. That means that while you're putting on makeup, you can shop, play music, or receive traffic updates on the surface of the mirror.

The mirror also has built-in, voice-controlled LED lighting that can be adjusted to a night light or lighting ideal for makeup. The mirror will go on the market in March for an unspecified price.

Smart Garage Door Sensor

Roost's smart garage door sensor lets users know if their garage door is open or closed in case they forgot to close it. The smart door has a built-in accelerometer so users know when the garage door is moving. Roost's smart garage door sensor will be available in the spring for $40. The garage door sensor is less expensive than other smart doors, however, unlike other similar products, this smart garage door can't do more than alert users about their door status.

Angee Home Protection

Angee, an autonomous home protection device, is all about privacy for the homeowner, The smart device switches between security modes to analyze for dangerous situations in the home – but also respects the homeowner's privacy. The camera, which features a built-in battery, can alert on home intrusion – but recognizes homeowners who might get up at night for a glass or water, or pets moving around the home. The camera also automatically swivels away from homeowners if they want extra privacy. Angee will be available on the market in 2018.

Asus RT-AX88U Smart Home Router

Asus at CES showed off a new dual-band home router for smart homes. The company said this router features MU-MIMO technology, meaning that it can connect to multiple devices at the same time and more efficiently. The router, which has a circular sleep design, features 8-Gigabit LAN ports for wired connections and is compatible with Asus AiMesh, so it can cover the entire home. These routers will be available in the second half of 2018 for an unspecified price, according to Asus.

Kevin Smart Speaker

Smart speaker Kevin, made by Swiss startup Mitipi, has one unique function – it wants to scare off potential robbers from the home using lights and sounds. In a reference to Kevin from "Home Alone," this speaker is equipped with smart LEDs and simulates the noise of someone being at home – including sounds of a TV or someone taking a shower – so that potential robbers won't dare to enter the home. The smart speaker will launch on Kickstarter in 2018, with an early bird price of $150.

Toshiba's Symbio

Toshiba's smart home offering, Symbio, squeezes together multiple functions in a small, sleek hub. The 6-in-1 smart hub acts as an security camera, intercom and Amazon Alexa-enabled smart speaker that can control multiple functions in the house like fans and air conditioning. Symbio has a 1,080p full HD camera for security, and features a security siren in case it detects a stranger, as well as alerting the user's smartphone. The Symbio is now on Amazon and costs $249.

Azpen Smart Plug

Azpen's Wi-Fi smart plug switches help homeowners make their devices smart so that they can control them from anywhere. The Azpen smart plug., which has a built-in USB port, features a timer that can turn devices on or off and can add up to 50 units per application. Homeowners can control the smart plug applications from their smartphones or tablets. This smart product is currently on the market for $20.

CopRose Window Cleaning Robot

The CopRose smart window cleaner is a connected robot that keeps windows and other vertical surfaces streak-free. The robot uses a quick cleaning route on windows, as well as floors, walls and tables, and has a remote control so that users can control them from an app on their smartphones. The window cleaner is currently on the market for $132.

Sony TV With Google Assistant

Sony unveiled new 4K HD Android TVs that work with Google Assistant – so homeowners can use voice command to switch channels or start a movie. The voice assistant is now available on the remotes for two premium TC models, the A8F series, which features a Bravia OLED panel, and the X900F series, a TV with an 85-inch LED screen. These two TVs are also compatible with Amazon Alexa. Pricing and availability of the two TV models were not announced.

JBL Link View

The JBL Link View is essentially a speaker, with an 8-inch touch screen in the middle flanked by two 10-watt stereos. The speaker features Google Assistant for voice commands and a 5-megapixel camera so users can make video calls. JBL Link View features Google Cast support for multiroom audio, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity – and it has IPX4 splashproof protection, so users can bring it to the pool. The speaker will go on the market in the summer at an unspecified price.

Lenovo Smart Display

Lenovo's smart display puts a voice-activated assistant into an HD touch-screen display. The smart display, which uses Google Assistant, can remind users of meeting schedules, traffic and weather, and is capable of calling friends with Google Duo and managing connected devices throughout the day. The display, which looks like a sleek tablet, comes with options for an 8-inch or 10-inch screen and is powered by Qualcomm's new Home Hub platform. The display, which will be available this summer, comes in varying prices – with the 10-inch device starting at $249 and the 8-inch model starting at $199.

Homni Smart Sleep Offering

Terraillon's Homni is a lamp that acts as a smart sleep solution for consumers. The small lamp, which can change colors and play music, connects to a sensor, called "Dot." Dot sticks on a pillow and tracks the sleeper's movement, sending that data to a complementary app so that users can see how well they slept. The lamp itself also tracks external conditions like humidity and temperature so users can see that information and how it impacted their sleep. Homni and Dot will be available at the end of the first quarter for $199.

Samsung Family Hub Smart Fridge

Samsung is bringing its Bixby voice assistant to the kitchen in its Family Hub Smart Fridge, which the company showed off at CES.

The third generation of Samsung's Bluetooth-enabled smart fridge packs in Bixby and audio technology, making the product a voice assistant that sticks in the kitchen. Samsung's new product also connects with other third-party IoT devices, so users can speak with the smart fridge to control their various smart devices around the house. Samsung didn't announce pricing or availability.

Aladin Smart Lamp

Aladin is a wall-mounted smart lamp that is designed to help the elderly. The light features motion detectors to help users who get up in the middle of the night – and if they fall, the device can send emergency contacts an automatic notification. In addition, the light detects changes in user's movements – so if an elder relative is going to the bathroom more than usual, the light will detect this and let relatives know. The lamp, created by French startup Domalys, will become available in the U.S. in September 2018, for $299 per light.

Bosch Radiator Thermostat

Bosch's smart radiator thermostat aims to regulate heating functions in smart homes. The thermostat manages the radiator in the user's room and detects temperature drops – such as an open window – so that it can adjust the heating temperate to save energy.

The smart thermostat, which features a Bosch Smart Home controller and connects to a complementary app, is currently on the market for $59.

iDevices Smart Ceiling Fan Switch

iDevices lifted the curtain on its newest IoT product, the smart ceiling fan switch, at CES this year. The ceiling fan switch is a Wi-Fi enabled fan controller allowing users to adjust their fan's speed and light with voice commands on Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri.

The fan switch is compatible with most ceiling fans and iDevices also wanted to make it easy to install – the switch gits into the wall outlet and can work with any standard rocker faceplate. The switch is scheduled for release in 2018 at an unspecified price.
