BlackBerry 6210 (2003)
BlackBerry, formerly known as Research In Motion, started out making email devices and two-way pagers and then added cell phone technology later. BlackBerry's first device with integrated, stand-alone phone capabilities was the 6210. Just two years after Kyocera's 6015, the smartphone is benefitting from sizeable increases in both processor speed and memory/storage. But the BlackBerry 6210 is still beholden to a small, monochrome screen with a low resolution -- just 160 x 200. Battery life, meanwhile, remained stagnant. And if you're wondering how ARM Holdings came to dominate the mobile processor business, well, the BlackBerry 6210 is a good place to start.
