A New Touch-Screen Titan
HTC and AT&T on Tuesday unveiled the HTC Fuze, the latest touch screen device from the Taiwan-based handset maker. With a full slide out QWERTY keyboard, the Fuze takes some of the elements of the Google Android-based T-Mobile G1, also an HTC device.
The Fuze, which runs on AT&T's 3G BroadbandConnect network, comes after a string of recent high-profile HTC devices -- the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro chief among them -- to fully entrench HTC against other touch-screen titans like the Apple iPhone 3G, the T-Mobile G1 and the soon-to-be-released BlackBerry Storm.
The Fuze is built specifically for one-hand operation using gesture-based navigation, meaning users can touch, hold and slide along the screen tabs. For example, a slide on the home screen activates the most-used features like e-mail, text messaging, music player and camera. The 3D touch-screen interface extends to the Opera Web browser, where users can zoom in or out to ease navigation.
