Extreme Networks BlackDiamond X8 Switch

Extreme Networks unveiled a copper version of its Summit X670 Top-of-Rack fixed data center switches and 10-GbE copper modules for its BlackDiamond X8 core switch. The Summit X670 switch will support 48-ports of 10 GbE copper RJ45 connectors with 40-GbE capabilities. The BlackDiamond X8 copper blade will support 48-ports of 10 GbE copper RJ45 connectors with 384 ports inside the chassis.

The company also said it now has 300 cloud and data center customers for its Extreme Networks Open Fabric networking architecture solution. In addition, the company named Theresa Caragol as vice president of worldwide channels. Caragol was most recently vice president of channels and alliances at Ciena, and formerly worked for IBM, Nortel, and Bay Networks.

Avaya Identity Engines 8.0

Avaya released its Identity Engines 8.0, designed to let enterprises give employees secure access to wired and wireless networks from their personal devices.

The company’s Avaya Identity Engines allow businesses to manage identity and network access for employees and devices.

The additions includes both Ignition Access Portal, which gives users access to enterprise networks and allows IT staff to manage access, and Ignition CASE Client, which automates device configuration for secure access to the networks.

Appirio CloudFactor

Cloud provider Appirio introduced new features for its CloudFactor application, which is a part of its Cloud Enablement Suite of applications, analytics and a crowdsourcing community for managing enterprise cloud initiatives.

CloudFactor brings Salesforce.com information into Google Apps and allows users to access Salesforce CRM information in Gmail. CloudFactor was first introduced in 2010 as CloudWorks.

CloudFactor allows users to access and manage relevant customer information to improve data quality and decision making. The application supports Group and Professional Edition Salesforce tenants and is available to install via the Salesforce AppExchange and Google Apps Marketplace.

The CloudFactor upgrades include Salesforce.com Chatter integration, an embedded Twitter search widget, and customization and administration options.

Gnodal 40-GbE Switch

Ethernet switch company Gnodal released its GS0072 switch, the latest in its GS-Series switch line, which includes 72 ports, the highest port count of any 2RU switch, according to the company.

The 40-GbE switch offers congestion management and dynamic load-balancing and is aimed at Cloud and Big Data environments, said Gnodal, which is headquartered in Bristol, U.K, with offices in Palo Alto, Calif.

Gnodal’s GS-Series switch line can scale from 72 ports to a network of 64,000 ports by combining other switches from the series to create a low-latency, cost-effective Ethernet Fabric.

Unisys Stealth Security Suite

Unisys released its Stealth Solution Suite software to offer protection from cybersecurity attacks and hackers.

The suite is being released through a new channel program, the company said. The suite of products uses security techniques that cloak data communication end points, including end user devices, applications and data centers servers, making them undetectable on the network to hackers.

With the channel program, resellers can market to industries such as financial services, healthcare and federal, state and local governments. The company also announced that industry veteran Tom Zorn has been named vice president of Unisys software channels. He previously served as executive vice president of global vendor strategies for Arrow’s enterprise computing channel organization.

APCON 10-GbE Blade

APCON, a maker of products for network monitoring and security, unveiled its network monitoring switch technology in advance. Its 18-port, 10GbE blade provides density and time stamping for use in financial industry data centers.

When integrated with the company's IntellaPatch Series 3000 network monitoring switch, the blade adds time stamping at the nanosecond level to the APCON network monitoring feature set.

CradlePoint COR Integrated Broadband Router 600LE

CradlePoint unveiled its COR Integrated Broadband Router 600LE for the machine-to-machine market (M2M), the company said.

The growing M2M market includes kiosks, digital signage, surveillance and monitoring.

The router includes embedded, dual-mode 4-G/3-G connectivity so users can take advantage of Verizon’s fast LET (Long Term Evolution) network. The router comes with external Wi-Fi antennas and high-gain antennas that optimize throughput and reduce latency.

Altima NetZoom Premium

Altima Technologies announced NetZoom Premium, software that allows users to model, maintain and monitor the physical and virtual infrastructure of network and data center assets in a central depository.

The product extends the existing NetZoom line by adding network discovery and monitoring of physical and virtual devices.

The product integrates with Microsoft Visio to build professional network diagrams, rack elevation diagrams and floor layouts. With NetZoom Premium, users can also generate reports about inventory, capacity and warranty.

Vello Remote Data Replication Manager

Vello Systems released Remote Data Replication Manager, an SDN (software-defined network) application that allows cloud users to execute replication-on-demand for large volumes of data within and between data centers through Vello’s networking systems and the VellOS network operating system.

Vello's Remote Data Replication Manager is designed to program an OpenFlow-enabled Vello network through extensions to the OpenStack cloud platform. The use of Vello’s OpenFlow-enabled SDN automates the process of providing network resources for storage replication, improved network optimization, and quick response to service demands.

Aryaka WAN OPtimization For AWS

WAN optimization-as-a-service company Aryaka said it has achieved rapid access to Amazon Web Services for its customers.

Aryaka provides customers with quicker access to Amazon Web Services through its Points of Presence, located worldwide, and its WAN optimization techniques, including TCP optimization, compression, de-duplication and application acceleration.

The company’s WAN optimization services also enable faster data transfers in disaster recovery.
