Security's Hot At Interop

Security has become a crucial, if not integral, part of networking. And as the malicious threats such as viruses, Trojans and botnets persist, security becomes an even more important part of a customers' network. That fact is not lost at Interop 2010, held this week in Las Vegas. As in years' past, the mega networking conference includes a wide array of security products and services added to the exhibition lineup. Here are a few you'll see at the show.

Astaro Mail Archiving

Astaro Mail Archiving is a hosted service that is set up within 15 minutes. The service provides unlimited storage and users can find archived email quickly and easily through a convenient Microsoft Outlook plug-in.

Astaro RED

Astaro RED offers a complete and centrally managed Unified Threat Management for branch offices, enabling organizations to connect their remote locations to a central location (headquarters) within minutes and without onsite technical expertise. Astaro RED is a finalist in the Best of Interop Awards in the security category.

Astaro Wireless Security

Astaro Wireless Security offers a secure and uninterrupted WiFi signal throughout an office location via secure plug and play thin access points (802.11n). Astaro Wireless Security allows users to create guest Internet access without complicated configuration. Security is managed centrally with the Astaro Security Gateway Web interface.

Barracuda NG Firewall

The Barracuda NG Firewall is a family of hardware and virtual appliances designed to protect network infrastructure, improve site-to-site connectivity and simplify administration of network operations. Beyond its powerful network firewall and VPN technologies, the Barracuda NG Firewall integrates a comprehensive set of next generation technologies, including Layer 7 application profiling, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, antivirus, antispam and network access control. The Barracuda NG Firewall, which is available immediately, is offered in seven hardware models ranging from small branch offices to large enterprises and datacenters, and comes with a corresponding virtual appliance offering. Barracuda Purewire Web Security Service

The Barracuda Purewire Web Security Service, a cloud-based secure Web gateway, protects users from malware, phishing, identity theft, and other harmful activity online -- in effect, providing a pure wire to the Internet. The service sits between a company's network and the Internet to protect the company's users as they conduct business-critical activities on the Web. Specifically, the Barracuda Purewire Web Security Service: inspects outbound Web traffic for safety and compliance; analyzes Web site response traffic for malicious programs and untrustworthy users; provides global visibility through comprehensive and flexible reporting to the user level; and protects users accessing the Web in the workplace, on laptops and via mobile devices. Blue Coat ProxySG Appliance

The Blue Coat ProxySG appliance is part of a hybrid Web security solution that combines presence at a company's Internet gateway with a collaborative cloud defense that offers protection based on on-demand security intelligence. The appliance uses policy-based proxy technologies and caching technologies to provide granular application security, accelerated for content, while decreasing bandwidth consumption. ProxySG appliances work together with the Blue Coat WebPulse service, a distributed cloud-based system that uses the collective experience of over 62 million users to find the latest sources of malicious threats.

Cisco: ScanSafe Web Intelligence Reporting/Cloud-based Cisco Ironport DLP and Encryption

Cisco's WIRe gives enterprises insight to how Web resources are being used through detailed user-level information Web communications reporting. Meanwhile, Cloud-based Cisco IronPort DLP and Encryption protects both inbound and outbound e-mail in the cloud, enabling customers to meet compliance requirements with a comprehensive, accurate and simple-to-use solution.

ESET Remote Administrator 4

ESET Remote Administrator 4 makes owning ESET security software products a significantly lower-cost proposition. From a single ESET Remote Administrator Console, the IT administrator can quickly scan endpoints, adjust client configurations, respond to security events, update signature databases, generate reports, install and manage ESET solutions across clients and servers running Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper

InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper suite of products protects enterprise networks and the endpoints connecting to them by managing guest network access and quarantining rogues to maintain a healthy system. CyberGatekeeper Dynamic NAC (DNAC) offers rapid deployment with zero network changes, providing centralized management, flexible policies, granular quarantining and monitoring, and remediation of unhealthy systems. McAfee Firewall Enterprise Version 8

Trustwave DLP
