IBM Counters FUD Over x86 Sale: Talks HP, China Fears And Lost Market Share

Tackling The Tough Questions

Adalio Sanchez, general manager of IBM's System x business, has a full plate these days as a key executive on the front line of IBM's $2.3 billion sale of its x86 server business to Lenovo.

Last week at IBM's Edge conference in Las Vegas, Sanchez pulled back the curtain a little more on the deal as he was shuffled from press interviews, big tent keynotes, technical break-out sessions and one-on-one talks with partners in the stale air of backroom conference rooms at the Sands Convention Center.

Sanchez, who will transfer to Lenovo upon regulatory approval of the deal, spoke almost exactly one week after Lenovo spoke to its partners about the deal in Orlando, Fla., at its Accelerate 2014 conference.
