Microsoft Shuffles Windows Team

It isn't surprising but worth noting that Microsoft is re-orging its Windows effort just weeks after GA of the Vista Windows client.

As reported by News.com and others, company veteran Bill Veghte will head a new Windows Business Unit.

Veghte had been overseeing North American sales and marketing.

Mike Sievert who had headed Vista product marketing and product management will continue with product marketing only. Product management will go to another long-timer, Mike Nash, who had headed up Microsoft's security efforts.

All of this shuffling takes place after the planned retirement of Jim Allchin, the co-president of the Windows Platform Group with Kevin Johnson. Steven Sinofsky, as previously stated, will lead Windows development. It is also seen as a continuation of a major reorg a year and a half ago of the company's groups into three business units.
