Oracle Transacts In A Big Way
Microsoft also dominated the portals/content management software market in terms of closing deals in the first half of 2008. The Redmond, Wash.-based developer closed 32.3 percent of the value of all sales during that period. Oracle only closed $101 million in sales in the first half of the year, but the company's average transaction was valued at $232,900. The next closest competitor was IBM with an average transaction of $110,900. Meanwhile, Microsoft, who ate the largest share of the market again at 32.3 percent and $283 million in closed sales, only averaged $55,000 per transaction.
