Why You Should Care: MXsense offers turn-key Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) e-mail archiving that includes a search engine with built-in indexing features.

The Lowdown: It's no secret that companies are bombarded with scores of inbound and outbound e-mail messages and attachments on a daily basis, and if servers go down it could spell disaster. That's where MXsense comes in. The company's eponymous flagship product securely processes messages and stores the content in a fully-managed off-site data center.

Additionally, instead of using built-in e-mail application tools, MXsense indexes e-mails, letting users sift through a mountain of messages in a variety of ways such as keyword and Boolean searches, as well as searches restricted by user.

The company's technology has also become popular given the increasing e-discovery and compliance rules hitting businesses and organizations, especially in the wake of recent scandals.

In July, MXsense launched a partner program and currently has nine resellers in North America.

"The program is going well. We're getting quality resellers, and its slowly growing which is fine. We don't want it to get flooded," said Founder and CEO Paul Banco.

Banco said that MXsense offers partners attractive margins, and is fully supportive by offering training, lead generation and an opportunity to take part in a range of marketing campaigns that include direct mail, Webinars, online video and social media. Banco stresses that the company has resellers' backs.

"We look to sell through the channel first. We won't backdoor our resellers," he said. "If we get calls we pass them on our partners."

Banco also said that the company is not about cookie cutter deals and is willing to work with partners to create custom packages if say, for example, an end-user needs different retention spans, or wants to integrate MXsense with an in-house system.

Banco wants to keep end users happy as well, and said that a more personalized service is something that sets MXsense apart from better-known rivals such as Google-owned Postini and Dell's MessageOne.

"We're not a big corporate giant where you're going to get lost. We want to have more personal relationships," he said. "We listen to our customers, and I tell them that if there's a problem, here's my number, call me."
