ROBERT DEMARZO:
Vice President/Editorial Director, CMP Channel Group
rdemarzo@cmp.com (This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it)
DeMarzo has been omnipresent on the pages of CRN and VARBusiness for nearly two decades. Today, he is the Editorial Director CMP Channel Group, as well as a CMP vice president. Having built a career at CMP Technology LLC, which began when he joined the launch team of CRN, he was among a handful to experience the successful launch of a computer industry publication that eventually become the largest trade publication in North America. As editor of CRN, he was responsible for the editorial operations of the nation's most powerful weekly newspaper serving the solution-provider market. DeMarzo moved on to become editor-in-chief of VARBusiness, transforming it into a leading-edge magazine covering service-oriented companies. During his tenure, VARBusiness became the fifth largest computer industry publication in the marketplace, competing shoulder-to shoulder-against PCWeek, ComputerWorld, InfoWorld and other weekly newspapers.
It was also during his tenure that VARBusiness won the CMP Channel Group's first-ever Jesse H. Neal Award for excellence in business journalism. The Neal Award was especially significant because it represented a rare win inside CMP Technology.
There are few individuals who understand the reseller channel and solution provider marketplace as well as DeMarzo. More than $290 billion worth of goods and services flow through this market, an often overlooked and misunderstood component of every major vendor's sales strategy. At VARBusiness, he has helped refine major research projects, including the Annual Report Card, VARBusiness 500, Partner Programs Guide, State of Technology and State of the Market.
