The Daily App: Manilla For Android, iOS

Money might make the world go round, but it's reminders that keep the lights on. Today’s Daily App, Manilla for Android and iOS, provides bill reminders and multiple account access on one localized app.

Manilla is a free app developed by publishing giant Hearst Communications that provides access to online services such as bills, financial accounts, loyalty programs and subscriptions. Manilla includes more than 3,000 providers, and if a provider account isn’t available, it’s easy to request.

Setting up Manilla on a mobile device is simple. Once each account’s login credentials have been entered, they will remain synced with the app; the only information needed from then on will be the email address, Manilla password and answer to the security question. Manilla offers multiple levels of physical security, including biometric validation and SSL 256-bit encryption, and it is monitored by TRUSTe, Verisign and McAfee.

Manilla automatically retrieves, sorts, organizes and files each accounts documents, such as bills and activity statements, and stores them in the app until needed. Documents can be downloaded, printed and sent via email. Customizable email and text alerts of approaching due date and payments are pushed to the device.

Although it’s similar to Mint, Personal Capital and Google Wallet, all virtual wallets that also gather financial accounts, Manilla is a more complete bill-pay solution because it includes accounts such as those for cell phone carriers, cable providers, utility companies and magazines.
