Trash Talking

Traditionally, I've donated my used systems to the National Cristina Foundation, but this hardware is so old it's almost embarassing to make the call! Plus, I'm getting a whole lot more concerned with where this stuff winds up, an issue we explored on the cover earlier this year. So, I did a little search to figure out what's out there.

Aside from the companies mentioned in our earlier feature -- including Retrobox (which actually merged with another major player, Intechra, last month; DealTree, which opened a new facility in Texas last week; RE-PC, which has taken its business to the Web; and Market Velocity, which inked a new deal with Ingram Micro last week -- I've come across two other players more recently. They are Chasm Industries, where former solution provider Mike Howard currently is building out a channel program, and PlanITROI, which offers a program to figure out how companies can dispose of retired equipment for as little moolah as possible.

So, as your customers think about donations ahead of the year ahead and otherwise prep for tax session, what are you hearing about asset disposal? And how are you cashing in?
