Manzi's Back And Gather.com's Got Him

He's funding gather.com, a blog aggregator that promises to share advertising wealth with content providers, according to Saturday's Boston Globe.

Manzi was CEO of Lotus Development Corp. when it caught IBM chairman Lou Gerstner's eye. Then he extracted more dough for that company than then-IBM-boss Gerstner wanted to spend. The deal ended up getting done in 1995 and Manzi was gone within a year.

Since then Manzi took on Nets, Inc., joined the board of Fresh Direct and Thermo Electron. Now he is backing Gather.com, along with former U.S. Senator and New York Knick Bill Bradley who is now with Allen and Co.
