Lerach Firm Files Shareholder Suit Against Dell

The firm of Lerach Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman and Robbins said Wednesday that it has launched the class action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas on behalf of those who bought Dell shares between Feb. 13, 2003 and Sept. 8, 2006.

According to a press release put out by the firm:

A spokesman for Dell did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

When he first revealed the existence of the SEC inquiry, Dell CFO Jim Schneider downplayed it and described it as "informal." At the time, Schneider also said he did not believe that the findings of the probe, or one being conducted by the Audit Committee of Dell's board, would have any material impact on the company's reported financial results.

Earlier this week, Don Carty, the chairman of that Audit Committee, said he hadn't yet determined whether any material issues were at play.
