The Daily App: My Contact Info

If you’ve been to a trade show or industry conference in the past year, you’ve probably noticed this at least once: one person holding up a smart phone screen to another, as the other takes a quick snap shot.

Welcome to the 2011 version of the electronic business card.

One app that takes the sharing of personal contact information along this route is My Contact Info, which we examined on Windows Phone 7. It’s intriguing and, if it picks up in popularity, could put an end to those awkward, end-of-conference moments when you’ve run out of business cards and have to write down your information on a cocktail napkin.

Simply download and install the My Contact Info app into a Windows Phone 7 device, enter your name, place of business, email address and phone number, and the app turns that information into a nifty bar code. To share your details, simply tap the app, call up the bar code, and point it at a bar code reader (and vice versa to get someone else’s information that way).

On Windows Phone 7, it’s a free app. If you have a conference or trade show coming up, it’s certainly worth a try.
