The Daily App: Scan to PDF for iPhone
Scan to PDF for iPhone isn’t the easiest smartphone scanning app we’ve seen, but it offers the most editing capability and control over how a document looks that we’ve yet come across.
We’re more amazed each day at how smartphones are becoming so much more than content-consumption devices, but rather data-creation devices too. Nowhere is that change more apparent than in apps that turn smartphones into document and imaging products. In many cases, the quality of the scanned document is extremely high, too.
With Scan to PDF for iPhone, which is a free download in the Apple iTunes App Store, it’s possible to go beyond mere document scanning into a full menu of document editing options. Create PDFs from multiple pages, scan to color or black-and-white, turn images already on your phone into a PDF or use the on-board camera to shoot a photo and turn it right into a PDF – all are options with Scan to PDF.
Tipirneni Software is the developer of this app, which comes with a mini-training video, and allows for preferences that include defaulting scans to black and white, as well as high-definition image captures.
Ubiquitious printing capabilities, for the most part, aren’t yet fully realized in smartphones in a meaningful way so in the meantime turning documents into PDF for printing later may be a better option. Scan to PDF for iPhone combines the quality of PDF imaging with the convenience of a smartphone, and we like it.
