The Daily App: SystemPanel App - Task Manager for Android

On the Android platform, there is no native ability to kill apps or processes, view performance data or centrally manage what is running and what’s not running. There are, however, a number of apps – particularly simple “task killers” – that can do the job.

SystemPanel App/Task Manager for Android is a $2.99 download from the Android Market, by developer NextApp Inc. This app provides a nice visualization, in pie chart format, of how much CPU is in use, how much system memory is in use and how much system storage is available. Additionally, it will break down, app by app and task by task, how system memory and resources are being allocated. It then provides the opportunity to kill the apps or tasks to free up system resources.

System Monitor mode in this app is just awesome. It provides a full-on graphical look on all the information just noted, as well as network connectivity and performance, amount of external storage (like an SD card) that’s available, as well as available battery life.

The universe of Android utility apps is growing exponentially every day, and it’s good to see when one of them stands out. This one does.
