The Daily App: My Work Clock for Android

By and large, we’ve found the time-keeping apps for all the mobile platforms to be somewhat mundane. Some have been barely functional and others have been so rudimentary as to render them barely more functional than an actual punch card.

But it now looks like they may be getting better.

My Work Clock for Android, by developer SP Elements, is a free download from the Android Market. While, like other time-keeper apps, it’s still lacking in visual grace, this app is flexible enough and sophisticated enough to allow for multiple jobs tracked at the same time, and full descriptions for each job.

It provides neat features like “lunch break controls,” which allow you to build in a time pause to the work clock – for any length of time you wish – for lunch or other breaks. The app provides full backup and restore functionality to the Android device itself, as well as a “backup and email” feature.

Time-keeper apps for mobile devices, such as My Work Clock, have great potential for any number of deployments – from landscapers to lawyers to consultants. It will be great some day when they take advantage of mobile device hardware including GPS, cameras, and more sophisticated cloud applications than email. However, until then, My Work Clock for Android is solid, feature-rich and free for your trying.
